I continually strive to be the premier movement therapy expert in the greater Phoenix area, to help restore my clients into full functionality and live pain-free. By doing so, I believe that I contribute to helping people improve their communities and families.
Why Do I Do What I Do?
Ever since I was a little kid, I had wanted to help people especially concerning their health. At one point I thought I wanted to go to medical school to become a physician, but I realized that I don’t believe in the medical model of care (ie, treat the symptom with a pill or a surgery, just react to a problem). I decided to pursue public health and focus on prevention. One thing led to another, and I ended up working for a non-profit health plan, which is just a euphemism for me working in corporate America for almost 14 years.
My big wake-up call was when my daughter Belinda was four months old and I went to her swim lesson for the first time (it was her fourth lesson, but my first time). I realized that I was missing out on raising my child. Working 70 hours a week in front of a computer in a cubicle was not the way to be the paternal role model I envisioned myself to be.
I was 39 years old and about to start all over. I needed to do something where I was helping people get healthy, with a focus on prevention and taking a holistic approach. I needed to do something where I could be my own boss, set my own hours, did something that helped people, and have time for my family. Getting my massage therapy license quickly found itself at the top of the list. And I love what I do! Please make no mistake, I’m NOT a “fluff and buff” massage therapist! I really take a holistic approach and seek to resolve the true causes of pain and dysfunction. Usually that involves scar tissue (from trauma or repetitive use) that needs to get broken down using deep tissue / myofascial release therapies.
At the core, I believe that we are all meant to live vibrant lives free from pain and dysfunction – all we have to do is just get the body back into balance and moving the way it was designed to move. Everyday I get to help my clients feel better, move better, and live better. And I am truly grateful for people believing in me and trusting me! Thank you!
